About our Recipients

Manna Packs for Kids – this new and growing program provides a backpack of
fresh fruits, vegetables and supplement food and personal items for at-risk middle
and elementary school children here in western North Carolina. Started in spring
2005 – Manna provided 60 MannaPacks  to one site. Since then, this program has
growth to 30,000 packs serving more than 2000 children. The counselors have
reported the children are so thrilled to receive their backpacks they will run down
the halls in excitement. By providing healthy and nutritious food over the weekends
and holidays, MANNA is enriching the lives of our children and our whole
community.

“For 20 years, Mountain BizWorks has been in the dream business, the hope
business, the opportunity business…building the local economy one entrepreneur,
one business, one job at a time.” – These words of former director Greg Walker
Wilson capturing the essence of BizWorks.  By supporting the Entrepreneurial
Empowerment Fund, you allow other dreamers who hope to open their own
business by giving them the opportunity to train and finance their business through
Mountain BizWorks.

The Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce provides educational programs to help
local businesses grow and excel. Most small businesses lack accounting,
marketing/advertising, legal, and human resources departments, they still need
timely information and assistance from these areas of expertise.  Small Business and
Entrepreneurship at the Chamber offers a variety of programs in these areas to
educate and expand the resource and knowledge base of the Chamber members.
Your donation will help support these efforts.
